Cuthill Park Residents' Meeting February 27th @ at The Gothenburg as Campaign Grows

Cuthill Park and Vicinity Residents' Take the Initiative ...

There's a great deal of blether these days about how communities ought to get on with things themselves, rather than waiting for Godot or AN Other to come along and do it for them. And in The Pans just such an initiative is growing in strength every month. Major litter collection has already take place as reported in the local press below.

Now there is a bold plan to apply to the Heritage Lottery Fund for a Parks Restoration Grant. It has been hatched by residents and local Councillor Provost Pat O'Brien and MSP John Home-Roberston have joined the Community Council and Arts Festival in seeking to carry it forward ready for submission by the September deadline this year.

Simply put, the proposal is that Cuthill Park should be restored and developed for local residents in the area after years of neglect. All from the area are invited to a discussion of what facilities are likely to be most useful to be held on Tuesday February 27th at The Prestoungrange Gothenburg at 6.30 pm. And for those who have the time, tapas will be on offer with the compliments of the house too.

Jim Forster, Chairman of the Historical Society, who well remembers the Park in its former glory days [pictured below] is putting the word around to ensure a good attendance.
