3Harbours Celebrates its 5th Birthday in Grand Style

First 3Harbours Weekend 2010 Gets Every Weather and Thousands Enjoy it All

Well, the organisers said it would be the 'biggest' so far for their 5th Birthday and so it was. And despite a bitter wind on Friday evening Saturday and Sunday were blessed with amiable if mixed weather. Visitors came from far and wide not just The Pans and the two fellow harbours.

The Arts Tent saw many a footfall and pleasing sales for the exhibitions and artefacts as well as browsing appreciation. The Arts Festival bookstall did good trade too. The youngsters had their art space too.The musical background was always pleasing and the Turkish Belly dancers were well received.

And then of course there was seafood as promised - from paella again which had been such a runaway success in 2009 to mussel and onion stews, fisherman's creel, sampler platters, Chinese and Japanese fishes .... didn't see any chips though! The Arts Classes did a roaring trade in teas and coffees at £1 a cup ... in fact there was at no time any excuse to go home hungry even though most of the food stalls had sold out by mid afternoon on both Saturday and Sunday.

The Real Ale Tent had the audacity to offer lager but to be fair there was a goodly range of real ales [including three from our Fowlers' brewer Roddy Beveridge] and ciders that were much consumed. Marquees from Myreton in Haddington did justice to the event as did the loos, litter pickers and kites. The 1745 BattleBus saw hundreds of visitors too as it parked over for the two days with StoryTeller Greg Dawson-Allen on hand.

Finally, and certainly not least, Ettie Spencer had a message for us all on the waves and as was only proper we saw the message front and back as the tide turned!
