Pinkie Awakes: Brunton Hall 7.30pm Thursday March 25th

It might have been a spectacular defeat but Queen Mary escaped to France and married the Dauphin!

It's a delight to see such interest developing in the conservation and interpretation of the Battle of Pinkie in 1547. It seems to be a fact that the victorious English army under the Duke of Somerset, Edward VI's Lord Protector after the death of Henry VIII, camped at Acheson's Haven as Morrison's Haven was known at the time.

For all interested in learning more of the significant events surrounding the battle, and of the battle itself, the best time to make a start is at Brunton Hall on March 25th at 7.30 pm.

The press cutting below gives plenty of details and click to enlarge

P.S. The Battle of Prestonpans 1745 Heritage Trust has from 2006 been in conversation with the Old Musselburgh Club and will shortly be meeting directly with the new BattleGroup - and looking to do all it can working together and sharing progress. Next up Dunbar, boasting of two battles there not one?
