Lord Mayor of Gothenburg is just a Week Away ...

Lord Mayor Jorgen Linder returns again from Gothenburg

Many in town will recall that on July 23rd 2003, a year before The Gothenburg reopened officially, Lord Mayor Jorgen Linder came across from Sweden to see a Goth for himself. And he's asked to come back to see for himself next Sunday night and Monday July 22nd/ 23rd what progress has been made.

Full Schedule will be published in East Lothian Courier and East Lothian News
on July 19th
...but here's a preview

Sunday July 22nd Jorgen Linder and his wife Lisbeth and friends are arriving after two whistle stops - in Armadale for lunch and Newtongrange for tea, to see our fellow Goths there. They will be in The Pans in time for our Beach Barbecue opposite the Goth - everyone invited. High tide is about 9pm so between 6pm and 8pm it should be enjoyable. Those attending will be asked to help collect some of Belfield's old pottery shards off the beach and some colour-blended [agated] stones for a Sea Sculpture to Charles Belfield IV to be named at 8.15pm. It will form a key element in the August/ September Exhibition of Prestonpans Pottery due at St Andrew's Church. [There's also then there's the usual musical continuation at the Goth across the road after 8.15 pm till late ]

Monday July 23rd This is officially Gothenburg Day and has a packed programme for the visitors, and once again everyone is welcome:

11am Presentation of new Gothenburg Tartan in The Lord Mayor's [that's his] Bar at the Goth

11.30am Opening of Pat Fox's Burriss Bursary 2006/ 2007 Exhibition in the James Park Bistro

1.15pm Puppet Show by The Meanwhilers at The Goth

2.30pm Battlefield Walk from Meadowmill Visitor Centre led by Peter MacKenzie

4.45pm Fowler's Microbrewery Tour and samples for over 21s from Craig Allen - who has just been to Gothenburg to bring back some Swedish Ales for the occasion.

7.30pm Civic Reception by The Provost and GothMembers for The Lord Mayor - alas by invitation only. The Prestonpans Pipes and Drums will be playing at 7.15 pm

10pm Great Fireworks Display on the Beach

EVERYONE WHO CAN ATTEND ANY ELEMENT OF THESE CELEBRATIONS FOR THE LORD MAYOR'S SECOND VISIT - please come.
