Entries are invited to celebrate all aspects of the Prestonpans
landscape, particularly the clues to our history hidden there
- anything from now deserted former battlesites to the sun
setting beyond the Prestongrange Beam Engine House. We are
challenging your creativity with the imaginative topic of
History and Today In and Around Prestonpans. It is
a topic that can be interpreted in a wide variety of ways.
Put your eye for colours and fascinating plays of light and
shadow to the test in our coastal location. We can hardly
wait to see the beauty you manage to capture.
The competition is open to amateurs only - and it doesn't
matter whether you prefer film or digital - or whether you're
using a top of the range SLR or a simple compact camera. The
closing date for entries is Monday 14th October, after which
our judges will whittle down the entries to a shortlist of
fifteen.
All those short-listed will feature in our on-line exhibition
and win one of our fantastic prizes. The best twelve will
be included in our History and Today in and Around Prestonpans
2002 Calendar, proceeds of which go to Prestoungrange
Charitable activities. So detective hat on and put your eye
for colours, plays of light and shadow to the test in our
costal location. We can hardly wait to see the historical
clues you reveal!

After judging, the best entries will be exhibited at our website
while the twelve most stunning images will form the basis
of our 2003 calendar. If you would like to submit a photo
for the competition, you'll find information under Competition
Rules. The deadline for entries is 14th October 2002.
The winners will be announced on 30th October 2002.
