The Ceiling …. is detail from 1571 at the mansion home of the
Barons of Prestoungrange across so many centuries, a home today
occupied by golfers from the coal mining community that once thrived
nearby. A skull is sitting on an egg timer with wings. Taken from
the house and the world for which it was first painted, the ceiling
endures a non-life of educational Board meetings at Napier University
with the most exciting elements hidden away in darkness. The slats
and woodgrains provide a documentary dimension and the TV screen
reinforces this.
