Illana Richardson... that Question Answered
More than a few friends are pleased to know that Illana Richardson was an acquaintance of the family in the late 1970s when Gordon worked at Cranfield. Her husband was there doing the MBA programme and Illana was painting as a hobby but looking for a professional role.
She got deservedly lucky when Christie's Contemporary Art took a number of her works which were in vogue at the time... Greek island doorways, blue skies, white buildings... you know... and included them in their catalogue.
Illana did three small commissions for us: (i) she illustrated Gordon's first book in his autobiograhical trilogy in 1976/1977, Business School Graffiti; (ii) she created a Christmas card for The Manor House in 1979; and in 1981 she created a Christmas card for IMCB in Buckingham.
All these works are linked here from the illustrations below. We also have two of her paintings at #20/21 Yachting Towers on the Gold Coast, Queensland.
Thanks Illana.
