Novelty Teapots on Display November 17th/ 18th @ The Goth
Novelty Teapots Lift The Lid on 2007
2007 has been long scheduled as the 'Year for Prestonpans Pottery', and Graeme Cruickshank, top Scottish pottery expert has been at work for some two years now planning the whole sequence [of which a great deal more later.] Yet it has to be admitted he had not anticipated that Novelty Teapots would appear as a trailer this November, or prequel as one says today. But then life is full of strange turns and coincidences.
The Novelty Teapots on show November 17th and 18th are the creations of Tony Carter, from Suffolk. And two are of especial interest to all in Prestonpans since they feature the Belfield broon coos used since 2004 in the James Park Bistro and the Wiles Bus [in large and small characterisation] since its return to service in July 2006. Both are incidentally on sale in limited quantities as are all of the other 30 + novelty teapots that will be exhibited. For any who wonder why a craftsman from Suffolk was invited to make the two local reproductions the answer was that a long search yieldeed no other who could accomplish the task for us!
