Prestoungrange Arts Festival Launched

Karl Schutz' second visit to Prestoungrange in January and follow up meetings in Haddington and Cockenzie have now led to the formal launch by Baron Courts of the Prestoungrange Arts Festival. Dolpinstoun and Jane Bonnar have created the Festival's logo, which the Clan will readily see is the Prestoungrange badge as proclaimed by The Lord Lyon in Lyon Court on 22nd September 1999.

Jane Bonnar is proceeding now to contract to prepare the two selected wall spaces on the barony's sea wall, and to consult in Prestonpans for a further two sites with the Historical Society. The Provost of East Lothian and senior Museum colleagues have also agreed ( subject to any necessary consents ) that a mural will also be created on the Museum's Bathhouse wall for an initial period of 5 years. Baron Courts is making up to £10 000 available to each of five artists in 2001 for their works, provided copyright is vested in the Festival.

The steps to the barony's foreshore have also now been erected to afford easy and safe access at the foot of Redburn Road. This is a massive initiative for the Baron Courts to have taken, and much excitement can be predicted in the months ahead.
