Battle Tapestry Returns to New Lanark Mills: January 27th/ March 19th 2015

Delighted to return to New Lanark Mills for a two month exhibition ...

Arran Johnston and Sharon Beck are busily getting into gear here for our second exhibition of the Battle of Prestonpans Tapestry at New Lanark. We were last there two years ago with great success. CLICK HERE FOR DETAILS

As the poster below tells this second exhibition runs from January 27th/ March 19th so plenty of opportunity to see it again and to bring along friends and groups that have not yet enjoyed the experience.

All the usual merchandise will be available including the full Official Guide, but it will also be a chance to see Rosemary Farmer & Maggie Ferguson's new book on the embroidery stitches used.

We love the trailer encouraging those who saw Andrew Crummy's Great Tapestry of Scotland on display there last year to come along. To that we'd add that all those who saw our own tapestry there in March/ April 2013 should also be sure to come along again. As we all know it's too much to absorb in one or even three visits!

...not least for the Special Events offered:

Saturday 21st February, 11.30-4pm
SOLDIERS OF THE FORTY-FIVE

Join the Alan Breck's Regiment to discover what the soldiers on both sides wore at Prestonpans, and how they used their formidable weaponry!

A Youtube snapshot of re-enactment weekend is available HERE

Friday 13th March, 7.30pm
TALK: The Battle of Prestonpans and its Tapestry

Join Trustee Arran Johnston as he explores the events of the Battle of Prestonpans and how its remarkable tapestry came about.
