Canadian Murals Routes: 14th National Symposium - October 28/ 30th
The 'very' BIG Picture: 14th National Mural Symposium
Toronto Canada, October 28 - 30 2011
Mural Routes presents its National Mural Symposium 2011, a professional development opportunity for mural artists, arts administrators, arts educators, public art consultants and creative developers of community space.
This year, program highlights include:
Acclaimed muralist Charles Johnston, C5 Artworks, presenting a look at his Monumental Murals including "The Spirit Farmer", a 100 foot tall mural that wraps around a four tower peanut silo in Colquitt, Georgia.
Social Enterprises for Murals will be explored by Faris Basharahil, founder and director of Social Creatives, (Singapore), an Asian mural arts organization that has used social enterprise to create over 150 public murals on a sustainable basis. He will be joined by Javid Alibhai, from Toronto's successful social enterprise mural program at The Loft.
Digital Mural Mapping will look at some of Toronto’s murals and share ideas for putting mural projects online using Google Maps and other software
Training in Mural Making offers resources for curriculum development in the training of youth mural artists.
By popular demand, there will be ample networking opportunities for artists and administrators during Manager's Corner and Getting To Know You sharing sessions
