US scholar Colonel Martin Margulies dined with 'His' Regiment
There's a boat that's been o'er the sea to Skye ..
It's a long while since the monarch set foot on this famous yacht, but there seems to be the chance this coming weekend that she may well be back! Certainly her grand-daughter and her future husband plan a party on board.
Meanwhile, by air, to Prestonpans came Martin Margulies, Colonel-in-Chief of the town's Alan Breck Regiment of Volunteers - our own TAs which are increasingly fashionable these days!
It's been a good year for the regiment as Arran Johnston [aka Bonnie Prince Charlie] was able to report. Not only did the Prestoungrange Gothenburg's steak pie look appetising either. The Regiment has been in the field repeatedly and seen its numbers grow.
In January they took the Netherbow Port on Edinburgh's Royal Mile in the company of Alexander MacCall-Smith. They were foretelling the Tapestry's tale at the Scottish Story Telling Centre there. By May they were in action again at Kirkcaldy and then at the Haddington Festival. As often as can be, Barbara, the Regiment's cannon is dragged along too.
But perhaps the biggest event before the annual September re-enactments at Cuthill Park/ Riggonhead Defile will be in Edinburgh again. The city is to be captured in grand style with the focus at St Mary's Cathedral's North Lawn - weekend of August 6th & 7th @ 11 am/ 4 pm.
Annual Dinner sees Colours displayed
The Alan Brecks already have several of the necessary 'regimental' accoutrements - a dinner service as displayed and of course their colours. The pictures below show Colonel Margulies and The Prince arriving followed by the Colours and then the serving Officers and guests at the Annual Dinner on July 23rd.
