East Lothian Council's PETITIONS COMMITTEE Minutes & Action Lines for 1745 Battle Trust

January Petition from Battle Trust gets its Minutes & Action Lines

The Battle Trust's January Petition [LINKED HERE] was formally considered by the Petitions Committee of East Lothian Council on January 21st 2010.

The Minutes of that Meeting and the Action Lines arising indicate the most encouraging level of support that was forthcoming at the Petitions Committee. In particular Tom Shearer, as Head of Community Wellbeing, readily agreed to become 'the Trust's contact point'. Over the coming twelve months three action monitoring meetings will be held.

Tom Shearer's first follow-through meeting with the Trustees will be at their March session held at the Prestoungrange Gothenburg - from 6 pm on Tuesday 23rd.

Clearly, the Trustees are hoping that those aspects of the Petition directly actionable re signage and at the Battle Bing and the Gardiner Obelisk will be addressed by the Council well before the 2010 'visitor season' gets under way in the summer.

Discussion will also follow through very quickly on whether, and if 'yes' how, the Trust's Living History Visitor Centre can be developed at the Prestongrange Heritage Museum site alongside its already existing activities and its future plans. [Known to the Trust as Plan B, those details are linked HERE].
