Three Harbours Goes Upstream ...indeed Up The Royal Mile

Three Harbours @ Gladstone's Land Gallery, Royal Mile, Edinburgh
2 July - 5 August 2007 Seven days a week 10.30am - 7.00pm

A small group of artists have hired the beautiful and stunning gallery at The National Trust For Scotland's Gladstone's Land Gallery for five weeks to show off the work of East Lothian based artists Adele Robertson, Maggie Fraser, Tom Ewing, Paul Dalyrmple, Adele Conn, Andrew Crummy, Eddie Anderson and Lynne Schroder. Guest artist is Richard Demarco.

It comes hard on the heels of this year's highly successful Three Harbours Arts Festival that had thousands coming to East Lothian to see the many art exhibitions and events that took place.

Tom Ewing and Paul Dalyrmple had the idea to hire the venue and the aim is to bring to the attention of Edinburgh's finest, not to mention the tourists from all around the world, the fascinating and exciting story of what is happening down on Scotland's Riviera.

Maybe it is not by accident that the gallery room houses a beautiful 17th century ceiling mural and that several of the Three Harbours artists have painted murals for the Prestonpans Murals Trail. But to have a prime exhibition space in the heart of the Royal Mile, with a mural attached, to tell the story and display the artistic potential of all that is happening in Prestonpans, Cockenzie and Port Seton is surely fate itself!

As well as a range of paintings and sculptures, the exhibitions contains books and leaflets on the Three Harbours Arts Festival itself, Prestonpans Mural Trail, Prestonpans Witches and the Battle of Prestonpans.

After the recent success of The Edinburgh Art Fair, and as this exhibition also succeeds, it is the clear hope that further exhibitions of this nature can happen regularly in the future, and where more Three Harbours Artists can take part.
