Ceiling Images from the 16th Century

Andrew Crummy, the muralist, is working both indoors and out throughout January/ March to complete two new works. The first is at Cockenzie Power Station and the second is in the James Fewell Bar at The Prestoungrange Gothenburg.

At the Goth he is recreating some aspects of the original famous ceiling from Prestongrange House ( now the Royal Musselburgh Golf Club ) that was some four decades ago transferred to The Merchiston Tower at Napier University. Andrew's work will be on view from May but excellent photography has enabled the images below from the original work to be accessible. And in April this year Annemarie Allan's latest Historical Booklet, # 17 in the Prestoungrange Series, will be entirely devoted to that magnificent 16th Century ceiling mural.

Of considerable interest is the opportunity for comparison in the first two pictures below of Janice McNab's commissioned work for the Baron Courts in 1999 and the original Skull and Time Glass from the 16th Century..
