Murals Forward / Murals Back

The next and 9th Mural has now gained the required funding and will be painted at Cockenzie Power Station, owned by Scottish Power and on the eastern border of Prestonpans. Andrew Crummy is taking charge of the project having led the successful funding campaign.

The photographs below show the power station looking down from Birsley Brae and along the coastline from Prestonpans Burns' Memorial Shelter. Next are photographs of the town's second Burns' Memorial and the sculpture. Sadly below is shown the new Civic Plaque recently placed in the gardens by East Lothian Council, which has been defaced with graffiti.

From the gardens the sunlit John Muir Way winds back towards Musselburgh with Edinburgh in the distance. The 8th Mural [ painted in July and August by youngsters from Preston Lodge School and Bromley by Bow Summer Camp ] is nearing completion on the seawall and is to be seen to the left of Andrew Crummy's major work on Transportation.

Finally Kate Hunter's John Muir and Gothenburg Mural opened on July 23rd is to be seen with the sea at its base and in focussed detail. It continues to attract admirers every day of the excellent summer.
