PRESTONPANS CELEBRATES VICTORY

The Prestonpans Tapestry celebrates the enduring triumph of youthful Hope and Ambition.

The journey 25 year old Bonnie Prince Charlie made from France then through the Scottish Highlands to Victory at Prestonpans is depicted in 104 metre wide embroidered panels.

Each has been created by volunteer embroiderers along the route.

Greentrax has cut an excellent CD of Jacobite music and there are two DVDs - one is the Animated Tapestry with commentary in English or French and the second the DVD telling the story of its creation - Stitches for Charlie - the making of the Tapestry . HOW THE TAPESTRY WAS EMBROIDERED

Led by Dorie Wilkie [Lead Stitcher], more than 200 embroiderers made over 10 million stitches taking more than 25,000 hours. From January to June 2010 they have created the longest tapestry in the world.
