Global Conferential Tales V: Murals Going West and Witchcraft

Walkin' the Trail Going West

After the morning journey east, it was a delight that everyone seemed to have enough stamina left for the walk west! It was probably the afternoon scones and raspberry jam that did it, or the prospect of fish and chips and deep fried Mars bar for supper afterwards. But the afternoon murals' walk to the west began in the Gothenburg's garden dedicated to the 81 Witches Pardonned in 2004. Then it was down onto the foreshore to see the original sequence by Kate Hunter and Andrew Crummy - depicting Morrison's Haven, Soap, Transportation and Pottery.

The caravan then travelled along the beach and links to West Pans to see Jim Corsiter's Beam Engine artwork and into the Prestongrange Heritage Museum to see progress on the 21 window scenes for the BathHouse led by Tom Ewing.

Finally, the Edinburgh TollBooth mural in Cuthill Park was the scene for a re-enactment of a Witch Trial scene that captured some of the reality of those sad times.

It was again a tough schedule and the Wiles bus did its best to assist; but over 100 guests returned well hungry to the Gothenburg for Port Seton's Haddock & Chips and deep fried Mars bar; and many took a Celebration Ale from Fowler's microbrewery as well.
