Global Conferential Tales IV: Murals Going East and Johnnie Moat

Walkin' the Trail to the East ...

We spent the morning basked in sunshine as muralists Kate Hunter and Tom Ewing took all our guests on a walking tour of the murals running east from The Prestoungrange Gothenburg. It began with the Gothenburg and John Muir work at the steps to the Baronial Foreshore then travelled along to the trilogy in the Co-op car park. From there it was to the beach to see Johnny Moat's stone standing and thence to the Burns Shelter. It was at this point that Johnnie Moat himself put in an appearance to the delight of those assembled.

For the final journey to the Cockenzie Power Station the Wiles bus was called into service to ferry guests in cohorts. Yet the purpose was achieved; each mural was discussed in contect and in with the artist sharing his or her ambitions in the work. It also gave a great opportunity to see the architecture of the Prestongrange Kirk, memorials and kinetic sculpture.
