May 8th & June 19th are RED LETTER DAYS

Two vital dates are now set with no room for doubting, so please get them in your diary! They are not occasions to be missed.

May 8th: First Celebrewty Brew Goes on Sale + James Fewell Bar re-opens again

May 8th sees Iain Turnbull and a local Celebrewty BrewSet present the very first brew from our new Fowler's Ales microbrewery for sale... and its the right occasion for those who wish to follow on from these 'Celebs' to Register for their own BrewSet at Fowler's School of Brewing (Ph 01875 819922 and ask for Ian Turnbull or Adele Conn to give you fullest details.) A BrewSet for old hands from John Fowler & Co. is already planned.

The traditional brewer's broom will be ceremonially raised.

June 19th: Grand Open Day

June 19th will surely see plenty of fireworks and yet more 'Celebs' including Thomas Nelson V - grandson of the man who lent £4000 @ 5%pa cumulative in 1908 which funded the entire original construction of the Gothenburg. He sadly died at the Battle of Arras in 1917 shortly after that loan was repaid in full.

June Lake, the June 1986 'Tennent Lager Lady' who graced that month's lager can, and who last re-opened The Gothenburg after restoration that year, will also be back .. and more besides.

Most importantly - every Panner will be invited to explore the entire premises and see just exactly what has been restored, what added on, and most importantly what all this means for the Prestoungrange Gothenburg's future in the service of our community. And in the service of our ever growing Arts Festival.

As well as the James Fewell Bar and Fowler's microbrewery, there's a bistro and coffee shop planned for the James Park Lounge and quite magnificent Functions' facilities in the Lord Mayor's Bar and the Thomas Nelson Suite - for parties, weddings, exhibitions and all manner of events ... not to forget traditional Sunday lunches. And there's a brand new and very elegant lift [we believe its the first in Prestonpans .... tell us if we are wrong!] to ride up from the ground to mezzanine floor, and down again, if you prefer or need that option rather than using the elegantly restored 'old' tiled staircase.

Be sure to note June 19th, and be there to see it all. And come back again and again thereafter to support the Prestonpans community through the charitable activities that The Prestoungrange Gothenburg is sponsoring.
