Clan at the House of Lords and The Athenaeum Club
The Clan gathered at both the House of Lords and the Athenaeum Club in London on December 11th. It was Kathryn Wills birthday and she selected the red wine as is her wont; and it was also 'big' party time for Burke's Peerage Baronetage and Knightage 107th Edition (www.burkes-peerage.net) After two years' very hard labour indeed the three volume work was published along with two exciting titles London's Waterfront by Nicholas Waldemar-Brown and Graham Reed and Lordly Cartoons by Alan Mumford .. all pictured below. The team from Stokesley and the Editorial team led by Charles Mosley were all there to be thanked. Baron and Lady of Bombie, joint sponsors of the next volume Burke's Landed Gentry: The Ridings of York 19th Edition, Volume 2, and Sir Robert Balchin, President of the League of Mercy whose Roll of Honour will be published by Burke's in 2004, and a long standing family friend, here with us too.

No pictures are permitted in the Lords where the Clement Attlee Room was the venue bringing back fond memories for Prestoungrange who met that Prime Minister himself when he was Chairman of the Labour Club at Reading University in 1959. All too many of the staff from Burke's at the Lords could not recognise his portrait in the room!
At the Athenaeum discreet photography captured Prestoungrange and his three sons seen below.

The Independent and other newspapers picked up the Burke's story and The Independent gladdened our hearts/ spirits again the following weekend by listing the 'Glenkinchie Distiller's Edition' as one of its 50 Best Christmas Drinks for 2003!
