Cuthill Park, Prestongrange Road (along footpath)
by Tom Ewing
Continuing the trail westwards, towards Musselburgh, neatly tucked away in Cuthill Park, you will come across Witch! This mural is used on an annual basis as our outdoor theatre area for the local drama group who act out plays highlighting the 81 local people executed for Witchcraft . This particular mural depicts the trial of the Prestonpans witches held at the Tolbooth in Edinburgh. Here you see Agnes Sampson – the accused, King James VI ruling over the proceedings and John Fian, a man accused of witchcraft.
