Drummohr Campsite
by Tom Ewing
Aptly housed, the mural of Sir Walter Scott is found in Sir Walter Scott Pend. At the age of eight, Sir Walter Scott was sent to Prestonpans in the hope that sea bathing would help improve his lameness. This visit is commemorated by a plaque on the High Street and this mural by Tom Ewing. To the young boy, the associations of the town with the Battle of Prestonpans must have given the area strong romantic links and local tales provided the source of one of the most dramatic episodes in his first novel, Waverley, published in 1814.
