Stitchers Biographical Notes on the Website ... please check your own!
Editor's pen has been at work ... so please check for appropriateness and accuracy
Firstly, sincere thanks to all Stitchers who have sent in their biographical notes and black & white photographs. Most of them [82/ 104] are now in and you can probably well imagine the diversity they contain. Some are simply very short, others wax eloquent awhile. The diversity of content is wholly absorbing. It tells a second story, not of The Prince in 1745 but of those who have stitched him up!
Please rest assured that the 'richness and authenticity' of what each Stitcher has had to say, including quite often the backround to their volunteering to create a panel, is not and never will be lost. It's all here and on July 26th we'll be sharing it with one and all exactly as written.
However, as you know, a 272 pp full colour art book is being produced including all the Tapestry Panels as a souvenir for the thousands who will visit the Tapestry over the coming years across the world .....
... and once the biographical notes, photographs and tags go onto a printed page there needs to be some determined measure of 'consistency' which, Yes, inevitably sacrifices some of the more characterful style of biographical writing, some of its colour and some elements that are less relevant for the book.
The outcome of the book editor's quest for such consistency appears on this website. Please follow the sequence of clicks below to take you to the Tapestry's full listing and scroll down:
1. Look at left hand panel on this page and click on The Tapestry
2. Once that page comes up click on LINK HERE FOR THE TAPESTRY FIELDS ... it will take a few moments to arrive since it's a large file
3. Scroll down to your own Panel Entry and you'll see what the editor has done
4. Click on the image to the left of the biographical note [could be a sketch or coloured] and it will bring up your photograph if we have it and the short history associated with your panel .... once again it takes a few moments to arrive.
N.B. If you have concerns that the editor has minced the biographical words you sent - in an 'unfitting manner' - please let him know as soon as possible, and be sure at one and the same time to tell precisely how you would like to see it improved.
Deadlines are as we all know tight, and emendments should be received please by July 6th latest by emailing the webmaster as linked here ... email@example.com
