Life's Never Ordinary - Sometimes its quite Extra-Ordinary

Something wholly unexpected and truly moving occurred at the foot of Jim Corsiter's mural of The Beam Engine in late May. The wreaths from the funeral of Dad/ Papa were laid there by John. We are seeking to find out whether Dad/ Papa is depicted in the mural himself or simply loved it as a fine memory of life in Prestonpans a half century ago but thus far without luck.

Whilst of quite a different order of magnitude the John Muir Way passing along the baronial foreshore that displays so many of our murals had an accelerated visit from the individual below seated on his motor scooter just below the Prestoungrange Gothenburg.

Finally we can reflect on the infamous Dolphinstoun Subsidence that has cost Rail Network £56 million to divert the mainline. For over a year GNER has been running its trains past Prestonpans so slowly they revised the timetables to be 10 minutes slower. Not that 10 minutes is much compared with a recent hour spent at Newcastle Station after the completion of a £30 million engineering project that is billed to be making a "big difference" by GNER CEO Christopher Garnett. The cuttings from Livewire in the June 2003 Issue of GNER's magazine appear below.
