The Prestonpans Co-Operative Society Mural

The Scotmid store in Prestonpans is now home to a new mural – The Prestonpans Co-Operative Society Mural depicting the old store frontage and staff members.

The mural was unveiled on Tuesday 2 November by artist Tom Ewing alongside Scotmid Member Relations Officer Audrey Middleton and Patricia Fletcher, Manageress from the High Street store as well as local pupils from St Gabriels and Prestonpans Primary Schools – bringing together the past and the present.

Colin Bird, Chief Executive, Scotmid said: “We would like to thank Tom Ewing and the Prestoungrange Arts Festival for creating this wonderful work of art depicting the old Scotmid store. This is something for our staff, customers and the local community to enjoy.”

This is Tom’s first mural but certainly wont be his last with his latest project being to paint a mural on the façade at the front entrance to the Goth. Other examples of Tom’s work that can be found in the Goth are:
1. The Lord Mayors Visit
2. The Thomas Nelson Portrait
Tom also runs the Prestoungrange Arts Classes on a Monday night at the Cockenzie Business Centre.
