Making Hay While There's Sunshine at Cuthill

We All Pinched Ourselves, but ... Hey .. There It Was ....

Yes, 'tis unofficially reported that the Countryside Management Team have spotted an opportunity in the latest pattern of EU Common Agricultural Policy Grants to take hay from Cuthill Park. The pictures tell the tale although it's apparently not yet been listed on the Scottish Government's eco-website ... ...click on all the pictures to enlarge

By the time Gala Week and the Three Harbours Festival arrive this year the Park will be its spanking old self, reports Stuart Pryde, as Davie Logan and his crew get the job done .. with the promise from Stuart to keep it looking beautiful for ever and a day from now on.

Golfing pursuits which bedevilled Cuthill Park some years back have hopefully been transfered to the Royal Musselburgh where a Youngsters Tutorial scheme has been launched by the Arts Festival with the Club's Professional, John Henderson. The only sign of golf as Davie's hay wain took its load away seemed to have come over the southern fence from the RMGC itself. And the first visitor was a mole.

Plans afoot with The Friends of Cuthill Park

Under Wattie Anderson's leadership, The Friends are pressing ahead to get the Park as a fully functioning community asset as soon as possible now that the sewer and gas workings on Prestongrange Road are nearing completion.

The Three Harbours Festival expects to see its two cows and a calf plus the new bull re-painted in the Park this June, and the second Mural Fest there will be focussed on Children at Play in Cuthill - with distinguished artists including Sandy Moffat taking part this year. There's even talk of a Graffiti Car Wreck Competition 'dedicated to Davie Steele's music' alongside Tom Ewing's Summerlee Mural. Some of last year's work is shown below:
