HM The Queen Honours Sir Garth Morrison

Garth Morrison becomes Knight of the Thistle

East Lothian's Lord Lieutenant, Garth Morrison, a founding Trustee of the Battle of Prestonpans 1745 Heritage Trust and a frequent visitor in The Pans in support of the Arts Festivals - indeed he officially reopened the Gothenburg in 2004 - has been honoured by HM The Queen.

His many friends and admirers here on the web extend their congratulations to Sir Garth and wish him well in his new found dignity. The press cuttings below sketch in some of his more public activities, but many throughout the county and beyond will know of his kindness and thoughtfulness in myriad ways.

He was joined in the Most Ancient and Noble Order by fellow East Lothian resident Lord Cullen of Whitekirk now giving the county a magnificent quarter of all the noble seats at St Giles where the 16 knights are installed.
