Battlefield Conference & FunDay - June 4th/ 6th

Definitely ... Something Significant for Students & Scholars!

This 2nd Biennial Scottish Battlefields Conference convened in The Pans is something unique and will always be unpredictable. Friday June 4th offers serious and enjoyable presentations and debate chaired by Herbert Coutts in the Town Hall; Saturday & Sunday see a Clan Exhibition at the Museum Power House; and Sunday is Funday all across the Museum for youngsters.

For instance, what seems like an intriguing Friday talk on the portraits of Bonnie Prince Charlie will be spiced up further by the uinveiling of the Trust's own 'new' portrait of the Prince by Kate Hunter. Andrew Crummy's session on the imminent 104 metre Battle Tapstry will give an amazing glimpse of what is in store. As to the Trust's future Living History Centre - that's certainly going to be a surprise.

We're Building on Lessons from the School Visits Programme

On Friday the outcome of the Battle Trust's sustained School Visits Programme will be reported and debated - and what of 2011? On Sunday, some of those key lessons learnt including the great enjoyment the students get from BattleGaming will be revisited with Gordon Veitch. The Glenbuckets are also on parade on Sunday - great experience for the youngsters to meet and greet them and get some re-enactment kit on. And of course our own Alan Breck's will be there too with Colonel Agitant Adam Watters in command. Not to mention the Prince himself ... looking younger than his portrait?

All details are given below. Click to enlarge and print out. N.B. All Welcome to come to the Town Hall all day Friday - Entrance Free of course.
