Master Plan for former Cockenzie Power Station site starts to emerge

2/4 Master Plan options protect the 1745 battle site for us and our descendants; whilst 2/4 pressage a less certain future

The initial kite flying of options for the emergent Master Plan at the former Cockenzie Power Station site and the other lands owned by Scottish Power has begun. Naturally the 1745 Battle Trust can only give its support to those which protect the heritage site as identified in the National Inventory of Scottish Battlefields created by Historic Environment Scotland by Act of Parliament.

The Trust wishes to see the extant agricultural lands remain as such, which is as they were in 1745. It has no objection to, indeed would support, a small close-by Visitor Centre to supplement what has already been created since 2006 at the battlefield and at Bankton House Doocot; but as is well known it plans to locate its major Centre at Prestongrange Museum which will also house the Prestonpans Tapestry and much more besides in the former Bath House.
