Colquitt Georgia Gets State Recognition from Governor

Colquitt declared “Georgia’s First Mural City”

The Colquitt Team will be at Georgia's Capitol May 9th. They are going to hear their Proclamation from the Governor.

"It means a lot for us in Colquitt to have this designation from the State at the same time as we are dedicating our 11th mural. It depicts the stories of the volunteer Fire Department here in Colquitt and it is located on their own building."

They have worked closely with the Fire Department to gather the stories and they have been involved in the whole process of planning and deciding the images. Its called “Nuthin’ But A Will”.

Bid to Host the 2010 Global Conference

The City of Colquitt has been very helpful, even with some funding for part of the 11th mural. All of which has led Colquitt to hold a meeting to plan how to participate fully in the Global Conference in Scotland in August this year ... and most ambitiously to submit a bid to host the conference in 2010.

Joy Jinks and Karen Kimbrel are definitely attending the conference in Scotland in order to market Colquitt, and a bigger party is hopefull getting together in the coming months.

{Ed] Rest assured, there's a warm [not necessarily weather-wise] welcome awaiting one and all in Scotland!
